Committee

Danny Grady

Originally from Birmingham, England I emigrated to south Africa in 1981 to pursue a profession in the local Chemical Industry. After joining Shell Chemicals in 1986 my career became aligned with Coatings and through OCCA and SAPMA I embarked on studies that embraced all ten modules of the Distance Learning (Paint Technology) course. This enabled me to talk the language of “paint” and helped me promote various raw materials used in the manufacture of coatings. Over time further studying involved various aspects of Business Management and ultimately a BBA Degree in Marketing. My participation with OCCA has run concomitantly with my occupation and I have served on various Committees for over 20 years. I am proud to be associated with an industry that has put me into contact with some remarkable people many of whom have become long-standing friends. As Chairman of the Local Organising Committee for CFA 2013, I am grateful to be part of a most challenging moment in the history of our Association; and to work closely with SAPMA in uplifting an Industry that has so much to offer the economy of this exciting and evolving Country.

Brenda Peters is the President of OCCA and has been the Treasurer of the Association, and a member of Council since the mid 1990’s.  She is the Treasurer of the Manchester Section and a Past Chairman.

Brenda Peters started her career as Junior Chemist with the North Western Gas Board at the Central Labs in Manchester, where she became responsible for testing paint samples supplied by the various companies who were tendering for the contract to supply paint each year, and so started a long career in paint testing and analysis. She then moved to the East Midlands and worked for an independent research association attached to the Chemical Engineering Department of Loughborough University followed by a spell as a Highways Technician for Lincolnshire County Council.  On her return to the North West of the UK she joined Touchin Laboratories as assistant to Roy Touchin also a past Manchester Section Chairman.  After Roy’s untimely death she carried on running the company for the family, and later set up Analysis, a scientific consultancy specialising in general analytical chemistry, paint and corrosion problems.

Brenda now lives in Bacup in Lancashire UK.  She has three children and four grandchildren.
