GUIDELINES FOR PRESENTERS

The next biennial Coatings for Africa Symposium is to be held at Champagne Sports Resort, Champagne Valley, Central Drakensberg, KwaZulu Natal 15 – 17 SEPTEMBER 2010

The theme for the 2010 Symposium is “INNOVATION, EDUCATION, CONSERVATION.” The title lends itself to a broad spectrum of topics of common interest and gives an opportunity to share best practice and stimulate innovative ideas for addressing the many challenges facing our industry.  Some of these challenges include skills development, improving productivity, waste management, compliance with health, safety and environment legislation viz. low VOC, high solids, water based, lead-free coatings etc and smart coatings based on nano technology

This symposium presents an excellent opportunity for all levels of management to get a comprehensive view of the challenges and ensure that they can assemble the expertise by ensuring that existing staff acquires the necessary skills.

While it is true that many of the delegates have a technical background, both the membership of OCCA and SAPMA includes people from other disciplines. Preference will therefore be given to papers with wide appeal and those that not only highlight the problems but provide practical solutions.

There will be 12 Presentations of 30 minutes each (including question time) over 2 days commencing on the morning of 16th September 2010.

The organisers are mindful of the fact that many of the speakers will be specialists in their field and have offered delegates the opportunity to network and discuss technical or other issues with these specialists. To this end the papers will be presented at two plenary morning sessions which will end at lunch time on each day. This leaves the afternoon free for delegates to arrange meetings with presenters (or other delegates) to discuss issues which could be confidential or specific to their organisation.

The Symposium will be coupled with an Exhibition of suppliers' products & services.

We respectfully request that prospective presenters adhere to the deadlines and “Policy for Presentations” as set out below when submitting their papers and presentation material.
